It is not a surprise that one of Manhattan’s most prominent residences became the namesake for one of Gevril’s most prestigious timepieces.

Gevril WatchesWhen Alva Vanderbilt hired prominent architect Richard Morris Hunt to build her Fifth Avenue chateau, she was determined to make the home a showplace. It was. The spectacular mansion remained one of Manhattan’s most prominent addresses from 1883 until it was ultimately demolished in 1926.

This new design from Gevril was inspired by one of the oldest streets in America.

Gevril WatchesManhattan’s historic Washington Street first appeared on maps as early as 1797. With spectacular views of Manhattan Bridge and proximity to the famous Fulton Fish Market, the World Trade Center, and the innovative High Line linear park, the street has long been a focal point of activity in Lower Manhattan. To celebrate this historic area, Gevril created a timepiece worthy of the Washington name.

Alberto Ascari’s reputation for precision and accuracy helped make him one of the greatest racing drivers of all time. The same attributes help define the superlative Gevril timepiece created in his honor.

Gevril WatchesAlberto Ascari is a racing legend. This multitalented Italian driver was a two-time Formula One World Champion with back-to-back titles in 1952 and 1953. He also won the legendary Mille Miglia open road endurance race in 1954 and even competed in the Indianapolis 500.

After his untimely death in 1955, Ascari was posthumously inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and even had a street in Rome named in his honor. It is no surprise that this legendary driver became the inspiration for a unique limited edition timepiece that celebrates his racing heritage.

A masterpiece of form and function

The 48 mm Gevril Alberto Ascari is a masterpiece of Italian design and Swiss watchmaking expertise. The watch is powered by a precision Swiss made MD3G automatic mechanical movement by Ruben & Sons, the atelier of Alberto’s grandson Massimo Ascari. The movement is housed in a 316L stainless steel case. This boldly masculine timepiece features a stunning racing inspired dial that emulates the perforated brake discs found in Alberto Ascari’s Ferrari racecar.

The rotor powering this superb timepiece was inspired by a vintage Ferrari steering wheel and can be viewed through a scratch resistant sapphire exhibition back. The racing theme continues on the side of the stainless steel case with a series of ribs that are reminiscent of a racing engine’s cylinder head.

Gevril’s Tribute to New York’s Radio Row

Gevril WatchesMuch of the New York skyline was erected during the Roaring Twenties, and with that boom came a multitude of districts and businesses to support the prospering economy. One district, located in the city’s Lower West Side, was known as Radio Row; it comprised several blocks of mostly electronics stores with Cortlandt Street at its epicenter.

For 40 years Radio Row was the place for New Yorkers to source parts for radios and later televisions. Most of Radio Row was eventually razed in the mid-’60s to make way for the World Trade Center. Now however, the once-great thoroughfare is the subject of a new Gevril timepiece – the Cortland.

The Cortland is another in Gevril’s line of dressy men’s watches, a complicated version of the stylish Gevril Park, with which it shares its overall appearance and fundamental design qualities. Similarities include the 39 mm stainless steel case with screw-down crown and the highly detailed dial; specifically, the guilloche-style engraving, a seconds track bordered with scalloped edges and a date window at 3 o’clock.
Gevril Cortland Watch Collection

The large, legible Roman numerals and pomme tipped hands swoop up years of history and celebrate the golden age of watchmaking. As do the watch’s two additional complications: a 24-hour sub-dial that records a second time zone, and a moon-phase register to track the changing position of the moon.

There are two dial colors: silver or black. Black-dial models are paired with silver-color hands while the silver-dial models employ silver or gold IP hands. The case and bezel are both polished stainless steel, as is the bracelet. And there is a variation of the case and bracelet in yellow gold IP stainless steel.

Another highlight of the Cortland is the case back: it features an engraving of a 1908 scene along Cortlandt Street, with the Glen Island Hotel in the foreground and the Singer Building in the distance (the highest building in the world at the time). The engraving also indicates the watch’s limited edition number – each variation is one in a series of 500.

Versions of the watch in yellow gold IP come mounted on matching gold IP stainless steel beaded bracelets with double-folding deployant clasps, or on brown alligator-pattern leather straps with deployant folding clasps. Non-gold models employ polished stainless steel bracelets and black alligator-pattern leather straps. The variety allows the wearer the option of a more formal pairing on leather, or a versatile sport option on steel.

In recognition of Cortlandt Street’s place in the lore of electronic-age Americana, the Gevril Cortland is powered by a state-of-the-art electronic Swiss quartz movement. Choose your favorite Cortland model today from an authorized Gevril watch dealer and hook into your own slice of New York history.

Absolute Gevril

Gevril WatchesMost collectors are familiar with the Gevril tradition of crafting sophisticated, Swiss made gentlemen’s watches with New York City themes. These include classics such as the ultra-elegant Avenue of Americas and sporty Tribeca chronograph. The new Gevril Park collection maintains this longstanding custom, named after Park Avenue – one of New York City’s iconic grand boulevards – which reaches from Union Square in lower Manhattan and stretches north up the city’s east side, past Central Park, through Harlem and beyond.
Gevril Park Watch Collection

Like their Park Avenue namesake, Park timepieces have great range – they are refined dress watches that also wear well in more informal scenarios. This flexibility comes down to strap and bracelet options; when mounted on alligator-patterned leather straps, Gevril Park watches are as dressy as can be; but mount them on polished beaded bracelets, and they’re ready for an even wider array of settings and activities.

The dial has numerous enduring elements to admire, all of which speak to the art of fine watchmaking. The central area has a distinguished circular guilloche-style engraving, while the surrounding brushed ring provides a strong contrasting base for the large black Roman numerals.

At the outer edge of the dial, the seconds track is set off by delicate scalloped ridges. And the hands – pomme style blued steel – are abundantly complementary to the dial’s old-world aesthetics. The Park’s sole complication is a date display, which appears in a neatly framed aperture at 3 o’clock.

The mid-size 39 mm polished case is appropriate for a dress watch and still large enough to meet contemporary case trends. The design is symmetrical and unembellished, as not to distract the eye away from the details of the dial. The lugs extend and sharply tilt to match the end links of the bracelet and also to create a clean line for the strap.

A Gevril logo is embossed on the fluted screw-down crown. Even more detail appears on the Park’s caseback, which features an engraving of a Park Avenue panorama in addition to the text “Individually Swiss Handcrafted” and the watch’s limited edition number (each variation in the Park collection is one of 500).

Gevril Park Case Back

There are three case-and-dial variations. The first is a silver dial with a stainless steel case; the second is a black dial with a stainless steel case; and the third is a silver dial with yellow gold IP stainless steel case. The silver- and black-dial models come mounted on a choice of the aforementioned stainless steel beaded bracelet with a double-folding deployant clasp, or on a black alligator-pattern leather strap with deployant folding clasp.

Models with yellow gold IP stainless steel cases have silver dials and the option of a yellow gold IP stainless steel bracelet or brown alligator-pattern leather strap. Gold IP case versions also feature matching gold IP hands.

For Gevril, quality components are second to none: antireflective sapphire crystal is standard on every Park model, as is the robust Swiss Ronda 715 quartz movement. Gevril Park timepieces are smart-looking and well suited to formal occasions or more dress-down affairs, and represent another compelling example of the ongoing affiliation between Gevril watches and the City of New York. Father's Day 2015

In chronograph mode, these same hands transform into hour, minute, and second totalizers, with the big date display providing accurate timings as short as 1/100 of a second. The impressive 44 mm timepiece features a beautiful textured dial with two large date wheels that rotate in opposite directions. Once Dad discovers the accuracy and versatility of this innovative chronograph, he may never go back to a conventional watch again.

Gevril Columbus Circle

If your Dad is an artist at heart, he’ll love the beautiful Gevril Columbus Circle. This stunning 44 mm timepiece features a unique dial that incorporates all seven astrological symbols for the days of the week. This artful, easy-to-read dial provides a unique and fun way to show the time and date at a glance. The back of the watch is equally spectacular, with a commemorative engraving of the famous statue of Christopher Columbus at the center of Columbus Circle, where all official measurements of New York City begin.

If your Dad lives life in the fast lane, he’s going to want a Salvatore Ferragamo F-80 on his wrist. This sophisticated 44 mm timepiece is the perfect way to communicate your Dad’s good judgment and taste. Versace Dylos Chrono

For thousands of years, the number eight had special significance for scientists, architects and musicians. Now, this superlative 44 mm octagonal chronograph can have the same significance for your Dad. The impressive Dylos Chronograph turns geometry into an art, using the iconic Versace Greek key and Medusa symbols to embellish the unique eight-sided stainless steel case. You won’t need eight reasons to select this stylish watch for Father’s Day. One reason is enough: it’s from the House of Versace.

Rüdiger Stuttgart

If your Dad is a fan of German style and engineering excellence, he’ll love the classic, clean lines of the Rüdiger Stuttgart. Featuring an open-heart design with a view of the precision mechanical movement through two strategically placed portholes in the front of the dial, this technically advanced 40 mm masterpiece delivers authentic German styling at an exceptionally reasonable price.

Calibre Buffalo

If Dad is the type of person who likes to make a big statement, the Calibre Buffalo is definitely the watch for you. This 44 mm big boy, like it’s WWII fighter namesake, is impressive from any angle. The multifunction Buffalo features three well-placed sub-dials that indicate the date, running seconds, and 24-hour time.

The large sweep second hand can be controlled by two stainless steel pushers on either side of the crown for timing events. The crown itself is adorned with the Calibre logo and the stainless steel caseback features a beautiful engraving of a WWII era Navy Buffalo fighter plane.

Haurex Turbina II

Is Dad a trendsetter who likes the latest styles? He’ll love an Haurex Turbina II. This oversize 48 mm monster features a beautiful matt-finished dial with bold Arabic lettering and two well-placed chronograph sub-dials. The small-seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock and 60-minute totalizer at 12 o’clock turn this over-the-top design into a versatile timing tool.

With two well-placed pushers flanking the Turbina’s iconic protected crown, this is a watch that can’t be ignored. The Haurex Turbina II is powered by a precision quartz movement, is water resistant to 330 feet, and has been equipped with a comfortable black silicon strap.

The minimal three-hand configuration and unconventional design combine to make this handsome 42 mm timepiece a modern classic.

A New Sport Version of a Gevril Classic

Gevril WatchesMost people with an eye for fine watches are familiar with Gevril’s Avenue of Americas collection, the jewel in the brand’s crown since 2001. Like other Gevril collections, these watches are named after a famous New York landmark, in this case a prominent lower Manhattan thoroughfare called Avenue of the Americas, also known as Sixth Avenue.

Until now the Avenue of Americas lineup consisted primarily of highly refined dress watches. This year, however, Gevril is adding a slightly more casual version with the introduction of the men’s Avenue of Americas Sport. Even at a distance the overall look of the watch remains unmistakable, with a rectangular curved case measuring 44 x 34 mm, large scripted numerals and art deco style.

Two variations comprise the Avenue of Americas Sport collection, each a limited edition release of 500 pieces worldwide. The first has an IP black stainless steel case; the second has an IP “gun metal” stainless steel case.
Gevril Avenue of Americas Sport Watch Collection - 5050

The big difference in the appearance of the Avenue of Americas Sport versus other Avenue of Americas watches is the design of the dial. Unlike previous editions that have numeral markers at every hour, the Sport model has numerals only at 12 and 6 o’clock. The remaining hour markers are represented by luminous white bars, proportional to the numerals and stemming from the dial’s circular core. An open date wheel, exposed in four sections, is the focal point. The current date is marked at 4 o’clock by a small two-prong fork affixed by way of a hexagonal screw, one of four such screws connecting the center plate above the date wheel. At the center of this plate is an engraved pattern featuring a circular web, which complements the engraved concentric ring pattern on the outer part of the dial.

The hour and minute hands are also much sportier, with wide skeletonized bodies and large luminous triangular tips that are easy to read, day or night. A red sweeping seconds hand adds a burst of color on the otherwise tonal palette.

The introduction of the Sport collection means there is now an alternative within the Avenue of Americas lineup for those who want to own a less formal version of this classic timepiece. The look is quintessential Avenue of Americas, including familiar components such as the padded leather calfskin strap with tang buckle, anti-reflective sapphire crystal and Swiss made automatic movement visible through an exhibition caseback. But the dial design completely changes its personality and adds to its versatility, making it a watch that many collectors will appreciate and want to own. Contact your local authorized Gevril dealer to inquire about availability.

The Revamped and Re-energized Gevril Tribeca

Gevril WatchesIn the late 1990s Gevril released one if its most recognizable models – the Tribeca – named after the lower Manhattan neighborhood below Canal Street, which today is one of the most prestigious areas in all of New York. Gevril’s Tribeca was a triple-register chronograph with a design that evoked a look made popular in the ’60s and ’70s – a look so enduring, it is more popular now than ever before.

This year Gevril is releasing an updated version of the men’s Tribeca. At a glance, the overall look of the watch appears to be almost the same. But a closer inspection reveals a number of key changes including, first and foremost, the case diameter: the new Tribeca hits the contemporary sweet spot of 42 mm compared to the previous 37 mm, which many today would classify as small.

Gevril A2109 Tribeca Gevril A2110 Tribeca

The new Tribeca also has different case and dial combinations than its predecessor. The stainless steel versions have black or white dials, and come mounted on black leather straps with contrasting stitching and prong buckles or on stainless steel bracelets with deployant buckles. Similarly, the models with IP gold cases have white or black dials and come mounted on brown leather straps or on IP gold bracelets. Every model has the customary Tribeca black bezel equipped with a tachymeter scale for use with the chronograph in measuring elapsed time.

There are other subtle differences with the case construction, too. Gone are the visible lug holes on the outside of the case, which are replaced instead with solid, more refined “no-hole” lugs. Acrylic crystal is replaced by harder, scratch-resistant sapphire. And the screw-down crown and pushers feature more detailing: a crosshatch pattern decorates the tops of the pushers while the crown has fluting around the base and a pattern along the top. The watch’s screw-down capability supports its water resistance rating of 330 feet.

On the dial, the sweeping arrow-tip chronograph seconds hand remains, as do the luminous hands and the square-foot indices in the sub-dials. A new addition is the appearance of the name Tribeca above the 6 o’clock sub-dial written in a font reminiscent of English Towne, which many will find familiar as the nameplate font of the New York Times. Also new on the dial are the case-matching gold- or silver-colored accents.

Gevril A2115 Tribeca Gevril A2116 Tribeca

Internally, the new Tribeca eschews the mechanical movement found in the old model for a Swiss quartz Ronda 5030D. The switch represents a move toward greater accuracy and also adds a date function, which was conspicuously absent from the earlier edition.

Gevril shows confident restraint in its update of the Tribeca, preserving the best elements of the original ’90s offering rather than making sweeping changes. But an essential update to the case size means the new Tribeca is better suited to contemporary style, and the addition of a Swiss quartz movement means the watch is more durable and affordable.

The Tribeca is revamped and re-energized for a new generation of collectors. Contact an authorized Gevril watch dealer for more information.

Historic Gevril Unlocked Crown Indicator or UCI

Gevril WatchesDust and moisture are two chief enemies of a watch movement; each one has the ability to disrupt the narrow tolerances of a movement’s vital components. Keeping a watch’s engine clean and dry is therefore of fundamental importance in watchmaking and continues to be an essential aspect of quality case construction to this day.

Water Damaged WatchIn 1994 Gevril launched its first watch collections of the modern era and, in doing so, the company wanted to contribute something new to the legacy of movement safeguards. Gevril watchmakers focused on the area of the watch that is typically the most vulnerable — the hole in the case for the winding stem below the crown, a relatively large opening that is used regularly to adjust the time and date, or to wind the watch.

Like any proficient manufacturer, damage prevention was a primary motivator for Gevril, as was designing a system that would be an asset to the owners of Gevril watches. Although an effective and well-established preventative mechanism to close the stem opening was already invented and widely used — the screw-down crown — there was nothing in place to let watch owners know if the crown was closed properly, and a simple user error would leave the watch exposed to harmful elements. Gevril built upon the existing expertise and came up with the Unlocked Crown Indicator or UCI — a world novelty in watchmaking.

The UCI afforded owners of Gevril watches with a visual clue on the dial to avoid a screw-down crown miscue. It worked like this: a disk underneath the dial, visible through an aperture at 3 o’clock, moved with the crown as it was screwed open or closed. When the crown was open a red “warning bar” appeared. A full red bar indicated the crown was completely open; the bar slowly vanished as the crown screwed to a closed position. The UCI was Gevril’s first patent of the modern era and an example of the skillful and inventive attitude it would carry into the 21st century.

Improvements in durability and performance are ongoing in the watch industry, where innovation is the name of the game. Modern watches utilize various mechanisms to deter damage and general wear-and-tear, a legacy of advancement that began ages ago and included Borgel’s threaded screwback system, Perregaux and Peret’s screw-down stem system and Wildorf’s Oyster. Developments such as these are a part of horology’s grand history — the UCI is one of Gevril’s additions to this great narrative.

First Generation

Gevril WatchesThe early 1990s were significant years for Gevril, culminating in the launch of the company’s first offerings of the modern era in 1994, a collection of timepieces with similar design characteristics in multiple sizes with different complications. Together these comprised the “first generation” of modern Gevril watches and represented the brand’s renaissance.

Gevril chose an ambitious path, launching half-a-dozen watch styles concurrently. To do so Gevril watchmakers decided upon a single, innovative case design. The most noticeable aspect of the construction was a threaded bezel with six recessed notches designed to fit a special tool to screw the bezel down. The benefit of this mechanical construction was that it allowed for customization by providing the ability to switch “decoration rings” in and out.

These decoration rings (the sides of the case, essentially) fit into the case around the dial and were available in stainless steel or gold to either match or contrast the case. The rings also had names — one was Sevilla, another Granada and a third called Cordoba — all Andalusian Spanish cities, a nod to Jacques Gevril and his role as Spain’s royal watchmaker in the 1700s. The threaded-bezel design was actually Gevril’s second patent of the modern era; the first was the innovative Unlocked Crown Indicator (UCI) system, which provided a visual queue on the dial that indicated whether or not the watch crown was screwed in properly.

In addition to the patented threaded bezel and UCI novelties, watches in the First Generation Collection shared several other attributes including cases, bezels and bracelets made of either stainless steel or gold — or a choice of several colored leather straps. Dial colors included silver, black and various two-tone combinations, and dial designs featured circular engraving and pomme hands with either Roman or Arabic numerals. Every First Generation watch was Swiss made.

Gents Automatic and Gents Midsize

The Gents Automatic was available in a 39 mm case or a midsize 35 mm version. Both shared similar traits including the threaded bezel and UCI indicator. The Gents series had 11 dial variations. The large Gents Automatic housed an ETA 2824-2 movement while the smaller Gents Midsize housed an ETA 2681 automatic, both of which were individually regulated and featured time-only functionality.

Chronograph

Another men’s 39 mm automatic, the First Generation Chronograph was a classic timer powered by a modular movement consisting of an ETA base and a Dubois Dépraz chronograph module. The Chronograph had a 12 hour counter at 6 o’clock, a 30 minute counter at 9 o’clock and a perpetual seconds counter at 3 o’clock.

Chronograph Chronometer

The Chronograph Chronometer was an enhanced version of the standard Chronograph. All of its movements were submitted to and certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres. Like the movement in the standard Chronograph model, the chronometer version featured a Glucydur balance wheel, Nivarox hairspring and Incabloc shock absorber. The watches had a date function and the word “chronometer” displayed on the dial. The 36.5 mm case was appropriate for both men and women.

DayDate and DayDate Midsize

Another model with the two case sizes, the DayDate came in a large 39 mm version as well as a 36.5 mm version for men and women. Both sizes contained an automatic Gevril C0110 movement based on an ETA 2892-A2. DayDate models had attractive concentric sub-dials with dual pointers: the outer track displayed the date and the inner track displayed the day. DayDate models also utilized the UCI display.

Moonphase

Another dual-time model in the Gevril First Generation Watch Collection featured a moonphase at 6 o’clock, the date at 3 o’clock and a home-time subdial at 10 o’clock.

15̊ and 15̊ Midsize

“Fifteen degrees” models featured the travelers’ complication — a dual time zone with day and night indicators that corresponded to home time. The standard size was 39 mm and the midsize was 36.5 mm. Both housed an automatic Gevril B0110 movement based on an ETA 2892. Both varieties utilized the UCI display. The 15̊ was a predecessor of the Gevril Serenade.

Ladies

Even though the movement inside the Ladies model was electronic, the case was the same with its threaded bezel and interchangeable decoration ring, albeit in a daintier 26.5 mm package. Twelve dial variations were available. The watch featured a battery end-of-life indicator to let the owner know when the ETA 956.112 quartz movement required a battery change. Each watch had an individual number engraved on the caseback.

The wide array of styles and complications in Gevril’s First Generation Collection was an indication of the elaborate plans the company had for its future. Whether the watch was mechanical or electronic, featured a simple or elaborate complication, or came housed in steel or gold, the Gevril First Generation Collection had something for everyone and was worthy of the traditions Jacques Gevril began centuries ago.

Gevril WatchesThe modern Gevril tradition of naming watch collections after prominent New York neighborhoods and landmarks is well documented. One of the brand’s historic releases was the Metropolitan collection from 1997, named after the greater surrounding area of metropolitan New York. As one of the most populous urban areas in the world, metropolitan New York encompasses a large area that includes Manhattan and Long Island in addition to parts of New Jersey, Connecticut and eastern Pennsylvania.

Gevril’s watchmakers were aware that choosing a single design to embody the personality of such a large region was impossible, since it included a diverse group of cultures and communities. Instead, they agreed upon a design that represented Gevril’s brand values – specifically, its commitment to quality and to designing watches with refined sensibilities – a value proposition that has long been the foundation for Gevril watches.

The 1997 Gevril catalog described the Metropolitan collection as having “genteel sophistication, capital presentation” and the Metropolitan was indeed unapologetic about its upper-crust persona. The case was a demure 32 mm in diameter and quite thin, which represented the classic composition of a sophisticated dress watch (before the emergence of the “big watch” trend that followed soon after). The case and bracelet of the Metropolitan were made from 14 kt. yellow gold, yet the overall design was uncomplicated; its rich personality was innate rather than embellished.

As a result of this elegant construction and in the tradition of a formal dress watch, the dial of the Metropolitan was sparse, a graceful two-hander, with no need to overstate or put on airs. It was a capacious swath of gold color with thin applied hour indexes and the Gevril logo. The watch’s two hands were equally thin. There were two dial variations: one that included a minute track and another with hour indexes exclusively.

Gevril R017-3 Metropolitan With Curved Lug-EndsAn unusual aspect of the Metropolitan collection was the variation in lug constructions. There were two different lug setups for each of the 14 kt. gold bracelets and another for the strap. One version was designed to accommodate a mesh-style bracelet; another style had curved lug-ends that were designed to match a second type of interlink bracelet, and; a third version had traditional straight lugs that jutted out to accept a leather strap.
Manhattan, New York

Each Metropolitan watch was water resistant to 165 feet and featured a sapphire crystal. Ticking inside was a Swiss made ETA 282.001 quartz movement.

The Metropolitan collection set the tone for the many Gevril timepiece collections that followed with its combination of superb materials, refined craftsmanship and Swiss made components. Gevril remains committed to delivering this level of quality, and the great city of New York is its continual inspiration.

Gevril WatchesThe Greenwich sport chronograph by Gevril was released in 1997, and like other Gevril collections, it is named after a famous New York area. In this instance the area is Greenwich Village, located in lower Manhattan. Greenwich Village today is a gentrified neighborhood of residential and commercial spaces, but for most of the last century it was home to a thriving artists’ community, and in the 1960s, it was America’s eastern capital of bohemian subculture.

In the world of timekeeping, the name Greenwich also has significance. The Greenwich district in southeast London, England is the location of the prime meridian, or 0̊ longitude, the starting point from which longitudinal distances are measured around the world. The prime meridian sets Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) as well as Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), two primary time standards.

Gevril’s Greenwich chronograph is a watch that befits the pace of modern-day New York, yet remains reverent to the importance of astronomy in horological history and to the significance of the Greenwich name.

Greenwich watches are made from stainless steel with 39 mm cases, solid casebacks and sapphire-fronting crystals. The sides of the cases feature a decorative ribbing pattern. Multiple variations of the watch exist including those with silver, blue or black dials. Some dials are a solid color, others are two-tone, which holds true for the cases and bracelets, too. The bezels are marked by a sextet of ornamental nooks, and the cases have a screw-down crown with wide fluting and sunken chronograph pushers. The Greenwich watch is water resistant to 330 feet.

As a timekeeper, the Greenwich features the darling of complications – a chronograph – with a central sweeping seconds hand, a 12 hour counter at 6 o’clock and a 30 minute counter at 9 o’clock. The automatic movement inside is a Swiss made ETA 2824 with a Dubois Dépraz chronograph module.
Washington Square Arch In Greenwich Village

The dial design is a nod to the celestial roots of horology and to the age of marine chronometers, where stars were an important aspect of navigation. Small, round indexes circle the outside of the dial and sub-dials like tiny moons, and the Roman numerals are like miniature stars with a large numeral XII as the Polaris. More planetary shapes appear on the base of the dial, too, including a central circular hobnail pattern and circular graining in the sub-dials. The three pomme-style hands have circles in them, and the tails of three chronograph hands are spherical.

Greenwich watches are mounted on one of two styles of interlinked bracelets with butterfly-style folding clasps. Both variations combine polished and brushed links made from stainless steel.

As one of Gevril’s most notable releases the Greenwich collection is a symbolic centerpiece of the Gevril universe, much like the Washington Square Arch is the symbolic heart of Greenwich Village. In the same respect, the Greenwich watch is the standard by which future Gevril watches are measured, as the Greenwich meridian is the all-important axis for time reckoning.

Historic Gevril Chelsea Collection https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/historic-gevril-chelsea-collection/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/historic-gevril-chelsea-collection/#respond Sun, 05 Oct 2014 11:00:54 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=23268

Gevril WatchesChelsea is a cosmopolitan neighborhood in mid-Manhattan and one of the best central locations in which to live in, or visit New York City. Its proximity to both the upper and lower island makes Chelsea the perfect home base. Chelsea consists of residential properties as well as many businesses, including the heart of New York’s art scene, tucked over in west Chelsea and tenanted by dozens of galleries and studios: the cluster between 19th and 29th streets (between 9th and 11th avenues) is indeed an international contemporary art hub.

The historic Gevril Chelsea watch, issued in the late-1990s as a part of the brand’s New York collection (which also includes the Gramercy, Madison and Soho models) is inspired by artistic traditions and, as the Gevril catalog read at the time, by “striking depth and beauty celebrating strength of character.”

Depth and beauty are represented by the Swiss made Chelsea’s silvered guilloché dial with its mix of engraved and satin-finished surfaces, over which pomme (or Breguet) hands circle and Roman numerals are applied. All of this is further enhanced by the triple-calendar and moon-phase complications, which are symmetrically aligned through the center of the dial. The day and month appear in two apertures while the small pointer-date is incorporated into the moon-phase sub-dial. The dial arrangement is uncluttered and elegant.
Chelsea Market

Strength of character is epitomized by the 39 mm stainless steel case and matching beaded bracelet. For those who prefer heavier metal, the case is also available in 18 kt. yellow gold, which comes with a brown crocodile leather strap and complementary 18 kt. gold buckle. Like other watches in the New York collection, the steel version is limited to 500 pieces and the gold version is an edition of 100.

Gevril 2305L ChelseaThe Swiss-made automatic 25 jewel movement driving the Chelsea is a tried-and-true ETA 2824, modified by the addition of a Dubois Dépraz 9310. The movement is visible through the exhibition caseback, made of sapphire crystal. The front-side crystal is also sapphire. The watch is water resistant to 165 feet.

In size, design and construction, the Chelsea watch represents a well-rounded, quality timepiece for daily wear, or to wear in rotation as part of a broader collection. Whether it’s to stroll along the elevated path of Chelsea’s High Line Park, or to satisfy a food craving at the famous Chelsea Market, the Chelsea watch is a versatile companion. Check the Gevril Outlet online for availability of NOS (new old stock) Chelsea watches.

Historic Gevril Gramercy Watch Collection https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/historic-gevril-gramercy-collection/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/historic-gevril-gramercy-collection/#respond Mon, 22 Sep 2014 22:40:04 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=23257

by Adrian Herscovici

Gevril WatchesGramercy is an area in Manhattan that surrounds Gramercy Park, a city landmark established in the 1830s. In addition to its lengthy history, Gramercy Park is significant for being the only private park in Manhattan. Only the owners who live in the buildings surrounding the park have access and each owner is required to pay an annual fee to receive a key, of which there are between 300 and 400 at any given time. The keys are individually numbered and coded, much like a limited edition watch.

Gevril designed its Gramercy watches with this sort of exclusivity in mind: the watches are produced in limited editions and are meant to represent a legacy, to be held and subsequently passed down.

The size of the Gramercy case is 39 mm, appropriately dressy, and available in stainless steel or 18 kt. yellow gold. The steel version is an edition of 500 and the gold version is an edition of 100. The gold version is paired with a crocodile leather strap and 18 kt. gold buckle; the stainless steel version employs a stainless steel beaded bracelet with an optional crocodile leather strap and folding clasp.

Time display on the Gramercy is in a configuration known as a “regulator,” in which the seconds and hours are separated onto individual sub-dials while the minute hand remains central. The fundamental purpose for this layout (originally on clocks) is related to ease and accuracy of telling the time – the minute hand, which is referred to most often in time-telling, is dominant, and the hour and minute hands only overlap twice daily at 12 o’clock. Today, the regulator is still effective in this regard, but also presents a thought-provoking arrangement.

Gevril 2405L GramercyLike other watches in Gevril’s New York collection, which consists of the Gramercy, Chelsea, Soho and Madison, the color and texture of the dial is silvered guilloché with pomme (or Breguet) hands and Roman numeral hour indexes. Sapphire crystal is employed front and back and the watch is water resistant to 165 feet. Gramercy watches are Swiss made.

Gramercy watches house 31 jewel automatic movements, each with a base ETA 2824 that is modified by a rare Jaquet 876, which configures the regulator.
Gramercy Park

With a name based on a landmark and an age-old configuration on display, Gramercy is an apt name for this watch so steeped in history and tradition. Gramercy watches are something out of the ordinary, both in appearance and quality. A select quantity of Gramercy watches are still available (new old stock) and can be purchased online from the Gevril Outlet. Pick one up while you still can, and keep it in the family.

Historic Gevril Soho Watch Collection https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/historic-gevril-soho-watch-collection/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/historic-gevril-soho-watch-collection/#respond Mon, 22 Sep 2014 19:42:01 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=23399

by Adrian Herscovici

Gevril WatchesThe Soho watch by Gevril is one of four watch styles that make up the brand’s New York collection (the others are Chelsea, Gramercy and Madison). The watch is named after the prestigious Soho area in lower Manhattan, a small but concentrated shopping mecca composed of boutiques and big brand stores. Soho is an acronym for South of Houston (Street), but it is also a reference to the well-known area in West London, England. Most of today’s Soho is a part of the Soho Cast Iron Historic District, a landmark designation it received in 1973 as a result of its collection of cast-iron architecture, the greatest of its sort in the world.

Metals – stainless steel and gold – are also an important aspect of the watches in the New York collection, including the Soho, which shares several traits with other models in the New York family. The case, for example, is 39 mm in diameter and available in limited editions: 500 in stainless steel, 100 in 18 kt. yellow gold. Every watch is paired with either an integrated link bracelet or brown crocodile leather strap.

Other similarities include the silvered guilloché dial, blue pomme hands (generally referred to as Breguet hands) and Roman numerals. The gold versions have gold hands, Roman numerals and hour markers to match the case. The front crystal is sapphire, as is the crystal on the caseback, which provides an ample view of the movement. The watch beats steadily by way of a 25 jewel automatic movement comprised of a base ETA 2824 and Dubois Dépraz 9200 module. The gold version of the Soho incorporates a gold winding rotor.

The Soho is a triple-calendar like the Chelsea, but instead of apertures to display the day and month, the Soho features two small pointer sub-dials. The date is also recorded by a pointer hand, mounted centrally and marked by a red-tip arrow that corresponds with the date track on the outside of the dial. Inset pushers on the sides of the case allow for quick adjustment of the sub-dials.

The catalog entry for this mid-’90s release describes the Soho as having “composition of shape and proportion balanced with sweeping color.” To achieve this, the Soho mixes concentric circular shapes. These include the dial’s central guilloché and surrounding chapter ring; the two sub-dials and the moon phase aperture; the hands, and the hour markers. The sweeping color is denoted by the blue (or gold) hands and the red arrow of the pointer date that revolve around the dial.

Every watch in the New York collection is connected with an upscale area of Manhattan, and each of them has a personality that is consistent with the neighborhood it represents. These watches also represent the benchmarks by which the high quality and craftsmanship of Gevril watches are measured today. The Soho watch is no different, with its impressive details and styling, it’s a watch that is locked amiably in a Soho groove. Check the Gevril Outlet online for availability of NOS (new old stock) Soho watches.

Historic Gevril Madison Watch Collection https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/gevril-madison-watch-collection/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/gevril-madison-watch-collection/#respond Tue, 02 Sep 2014 00:32:44 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=22795

by Adrian Herscovici

Gevril WatchesThe grandeur of New York’s Madison Avenue is captured in a 2000 watch release from Gevril – a watch known simply as the Madison. Madison Avenue runs south-north through the heart of Manhattan. It originates from Madison Square Park at 23rd Street – named after the fourth U.S. president, James Madison – and flows northbound all the way up to 135th Street where it merges with the on-ramp to the Madison Avenue Bridge.

Beginning in the 1920s, Madison Avenue became synonymous with the American advertising industry, which flourished in the ’50s and ’60s. Many recognize the name as the setting for the hit television series Mad Men, which first aired in 2007. Today Madison Ave. is a world-class shopping destination with upscale boutiques that house many of the biggest names in fashion and luxury goods, including several watch boutiques.

Like the glory days of the ad industry, the Gevril Madison watch weaves its own narrative; this is a story of refinement and sophistication that is worthy of the grand Gotham thoroughfare.

Madison watches were encased in one of two materials: stainless steel or 18 kt. yellow gold. Each case was 39 mm, large enough to showcase the superb dial work but small enough to stay within the limits of discernment. A polished bezel with a tiered rim gave way to a brushed case side with a vertical grain, which met another polished rim at the caseback.

Inside the caseback rim, a coined pattern bordered the perimeter. Engravings denoted particular details including the reference number and the limited edition number: in the Gevril tradition, the stainless steel model was a series of 500 and the gold a series of 100. Sapphire crystal, front and back, provided durable scratch resistance. The large crystal on the caseback also allowed for an ample view of the Swiss made ETA 2895 automatic movement, which featured a rotor stamped with the Gevril signature.
Taxi Cabs on Madison Avenue, 1900

The remarkable case, however, was but a backdrop for the extraordinary dial, which featured a silvered finish and guilloché engraving. This fine decoration appears in the primary dial space, and within the small seconds sub-dial, and at the very edge of the outer dial. The applied serifed Roman numerals and pomme hands (generally referred to as Breguet hands) are the perfect complement. On the steel version, the hands are blue and the Romans are black; on the gold version both the hands and numerals are gold. The date window featuring beveled edges is another pleasing detail.

The gold version of the watch came paired with a brown crocodile leather strap and matching 18 kt. gold buckle. The stainless steel version included a stainless steel bracelet as well as an optional brown crocodile leather strap with a folding clasp.

“Power to influence” was the catchphrase from the 2000 catalog entry for the Madison watch. The phrase, in essence, was also the hallmark of the ad industry during its 20th century boom. Gevril’s Madison watch was designed for the same type of self-assured innovators who built Madison Avenue, and it demonstrated the type of detailed work that remains a pillar of Gevril watch design to this day.

Note: Several watches from the Madison collection were held from distribution at the time of the original release and are available today, NOS (new old stock), at select authorized online retailers. Contact us for more information.

Historic Gevril Tribeca Watch Collection https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/gevril-tribeca-watch-collection/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/gevril-tribeca-watch-collection/#respond Thu, 28 Aug 2014 22:29:32 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=22712

by Adrian Herscovici

Gevril WatchesFans of Gevril watches know of the company’s penchant for naming its watch collections after famous or important New York City neighborhoods and landmarks. These include the brand’s signature Avenue of Americas collection and the current Columbus Circle and Gramercy collections. Several other similarly themed collections have appeared in the Gevril lineup over the years, collections long sold out or discontinued. One of these is the Tribeca, released in 1999.

Tribeca is an area in Lower Manhattan. The name is an acronym taken from the words Triangle Below Canal (Street). The area (actually a trapezoid) evolved in the 20th century from an industrial center to an artist community to what it is today: an upscale residential neighborhood, among the most affluent ZIP codes in the entire city and home to numerous celebrities and other notable figures.

The Tribeca watch collection aspired to celebrate the notion of “seizing the moment and the bounties of life,” a phrase that appeared in the original catalog entry. Indeed, the Tribeca chronograph was abundantly detailed. The overall design pays homage to a famed chronograph style of the ’60s and ’70s with its triple registers, square-foot indexes and arrow-tip chronograph hand. The design just works: it is contrasting and capacious with a down-to-earth simplicity that is admired by watch enthusiasts to this day.

In addition to the famous black-on-white “panda” style dial, the Tribeca dial also appeared in a white-on-black variation, as well as a black-on-champagne and its reverse, champagne-on-black. Like other Gevril collections, the Tribeca was produced in a limited edition of just 500 watches per steel variant and 100 watches per gold variant, each individually numbered on the dial. Covering the dials were hesalite (acrylic) crystals, softer than sapphire, but domed and rich in vintage charm.

There were two variations of the case: one in stainless steel, the other in 18 kt. gold. The cases were 37 mm. The bezels were either black enamel or polished stainless steel and featured tachymeter scales. Tribeca watches had solid casebacks and fluted screw-down pushers and crowns, which added to their 330 feet of water resistance. All of the cases featured “holed” lugs, meaning the holes for the spring bars were drilled all the way through the lugs and were visible from the outside. Holed lugs added desirable character to the watches and, on a practical level, made it easier to change the straps or bracelets.

The Tribeca models with white-and-black dial combinations came on stainless steel integrated bracelets while the gold-and-black versions were offered on brown crocodile straps with 18 kt. gold buckles. Inside, the Tribeca housed a 51 jewel automatic movement made up of an ETA 2824 with a Dubois & Dépraz 2020 chronograph module.

Gevril’s Tribeca is as an excellent example of the brand’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship, and one of its most compelling offerings of the 1990s with an effortless and composed design that will be valued for many years to come. If you are interested in picking one up, check the auction sites – they do occasionally come up. The Tribeca would make an excellent addition to any watch collection.

Gevril WatchesGoing into its 10th season the police procedural Criminal Minds is getting a fresh face and character with Jennifer Love Hewitt joining the cast alongside Joe Mantegna and Shemar Moore. Starting in October, she will be introduced to audiences playing FBI agent Kate Callahan, whose work has gotten her an invitation to the coveted Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). The unit tracks the most dangerous criminal minds, studying them in attempts to stop them from wreaking terror and havoc on the public. These people are referred to as unsubs or “unknown subjects”.

Though one of the younger agents, Hewitt’s character Callahan is wise and savvy from her eight years on the force. She has a background in criminal psychology and works from the heart to make the world a safer place. In her backstory, Callahan has endured a lot of personal loss that makes her not only an ardent patriot but also a nurturing person.

Hewitt started her career out in commercials but vaulted to the public’s attention with her role on the popular television series Party of Five. She later achieved stardom on the screen with the horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer. In addition to acting, Hewitt is also a writer, director and producer. This talented actress even sings. Atlantic Records and Jive Records both have signed her to their labels in the pop genre. Her most successful single thus far was the 1999 release How Do I Deal.
Jennifer Love Hewitt

Actors obviously create their characters through behavior but wardrobe, including accessories, also contributes to defining a character. Callahan reveals her more feminine side by the watch she chooses to wear. Around her wrist is the Gevril Avenue of Americas Glamour model 6209NE. It makes not only practical sense for a BAU agent to wear a watch but also makes symbolic sense since time is of the essence in tracking a criminal.

Gevril WatchesGevril watch collections take their inspiration from New York City and its numerous famous locales and areas, such as the Avenue of the Americas, Times Square and Columbus Circle.

Gevril Columbus Circle Watch CollectionOne of the most recognized places in Manhattan, Columbus Circle, located at W. 59th Street and Broadway is a roundabout outside Merchant’s Gate that marks the southern reaches of Central Park. Many will recognize it from the Columbus monument by Italian sculptor Gaetano Russo erected in 1892 in honor of the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus arriving in America. The Gevril Columbus Circle Collection pays tribute to this essential hub of activity in Manhattan.

Just as the builder of the actual Columbus Circle William P. Eno, an innovator in road safety and traffic control, constructed the roundabout for functionality and ease of use, so did Gevril with the Columbus Circle collection. The dial actually resembles a roundabout with its concentric circle layout of complications.
Columbus Circle in 1905

Moving from the outside, the Columbus Circle features a day, date and astrological symbol that corresponds to the day of the week. Indicators for the day and date are rather unique and interesting. A diamond shape moves around the dial to signify the day while two markers highlight the correct date of the exposed date ring at 12 o’clock. Lume filled hands track time around baton markers on the outer ring.

Gevril WatchesA watch is an accessory that reflects personal style and makes an immediate statement without you saying a word. For the most part, watch brands take a conservative route and adhere closely to similar designs. Gevril is a brand that deliberately goes against the grain. Samuel Friedmann, who owns the historic brand, even says that Gevril watches aren’t for everyone. They are a unique and exclusive offering, only producing a mere six thousand pieces a year.

Gevril Avenue of Americas Serenade Watch CollectionThe rectangle-shaped Gevril Avenue of the Americas Serenade collection for men exhibits this attitude with a two-time zone complication, one of the most functional in modern life. In today’s global interaction we are constantly juggling contacting people in different parts of the world or country for personal or business reasons. This watch allows you to immediately know at a glance what time it is in the second city of your choice.

The beveled dial of the Avenue of the Americas Serenade collection is clean and sleek. It uses an artistic skeletonized hand co-axial to the hours and minutes hands to unobtrusively indicate the second time zone. What elevates these watches to the next level in functionality is the inclusion of not one but two day/night indicators for each time zone, which are located at 9 o’clock for the second time zone and 3 o’clock for the first time zone. A white color within the circular aperture indicates “am” while black is for “pm”. This way there isn’t any confusion about whether it’s midnight or lunchtime in wherever you are or are looking to be. A convenient date window resides at 6 o’clock and is linked to local time.

The Avenue of the Americas dial is not only clever in its functional design but luxuriates in the details. Stylized and hand painted Arabic numerals ring the perimeter of the dial set against a lovely guilloché pattern, while the minutes track rings a sunken rectangular shape surrounded by the numerals, adding depth and texture.

In a 34×44 case based on one found in the Gevril archives, the Avenue of the Americas Serenade collection combines retro styling with modern flourishes on the dial to make it not only current but also timeless. The pusher at 10 o’clock controls the second time zone, making adjustment quick and easy.

All Gevril timepieces are Swiss made using the highest quality of materials. Powered by a Swiss automatic movement with an engraved rotor, which can be viewed through the sapphire crystal back, the Avenue of the Americas Serenade collection comes in two case metals with limited editions of 50 pieces in stainless steel and 18K gold and 50 pieces in 18K white gold.

Gevril Avenue of Americas Serenade Watch CollectionFor the man who dares to pick something different from the norm to express himself, the Gevril Avenue of the Americas Serenade provides a unique option that isn’t found on every wrist. Just like every man, the Gevril Avenue of the Americas Serenade has its own identity. Purchase your Gevril watch from an authorized Gevril dealer.

If you’re looking for someone who understands pocket watches, Gevril has been making them since 1758.

Gevril WatchesGevril has been making fine Swiss watches for more than 265 years. Jacques Gevril, the company’s founder, created his first chronometer in 1743, and by 1758, the company’s reputation had grown to the point where Gevril became Switzerland’s first official exporter of Swiss timepieces. Many of the spectacular Gevril timepieces created during the 1800’s are considered true works of art and are now on display in museums throughout Europe.

Gevril 1758 Men’s Pocket Watch CollectionWhen Samuel Friedmann acquired Gevril Horlogerie in 2001, he was determined to keep this unique heritage alive. Production of Gevril timepieces, including the historically significant 1758 Collection, has been strictly limited. These fine timepieces are hand crafted at the company’s manufacturing facilities in Switzerland using the finest available materials.

Jacques Gevril’s original pocket watches were so well received that he was appointed Royal Swiss Watchmaker to the Spanish Crown. Luckily, you don’t have to be royalty to obtain a modern Gevril pocket watch. You just have to have the good taste to appreciate them.

Each Gevril 1758 pocket watch is assembled and finished to the highest standards by old world craftsmen. These fine luxury timepieces are powered by a proprietary hand-wind mechanical movement that is housed in a beautiful brass or sterling silver case. Traditional details include blued steel hands, Roman numbers, intricate guilloché engraving on the dial, and a free running sub-second dial at 6 o’clock.

These 49 and 50 mm hunter style timepieces feature beautifully engraved cases that open on both the front and back to reveal the spectacular dial, as well as the precision mechanical movement inside. Each of these fine Swiss made pocket watches is a masterpiece of the watchmaker’s art and serves as a testament to Gevril’s unique heritage.

Mario Andretti Wins the 1981 Indianapolis Trophy

by Erica Love

Mario Andretti was honored for a lifetime of achievement by the National Motorsports Press Association’s Hall of Fame. As a teen, Andretti came to America from post-World War II Italy, and went on to reach the pinnacle of auto racing, garnering worldwide fame.

During a career that has spanned four decades, Andretti was a Formula One, Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500 winner. He also won 33 times in IndyCar, and 19 in CART. Andretti remains the only driver to capture the Indy 500, Daytona 500 and the Formula One championships, and is one of only two drivers to win in Formula One, Indy car racing, NASCAR and the World Sports Car Championship.

73 and still one of the most recognizable names in sports, Andretti said being voted into the NMPA Hall of Fame was one of the highlights of his career. “You get that beautiful call and then it gives you a chance to pause and look back at everything that has happened to you, to count your blessings,” he said. “The greatest compliment is your work has been acknowledged, and this is what it’s all about.”

Andretti was awarded the traditional plaque and grey NMPA jacket. “Quite honestly, when some of these invitations still appear, it’s the ultimate compliment that can be paid to you,” said Andretti. “It’s because somehow they still are looking at your career after all the years.”

“I count my blessings every day because I’ve been so, so fortunate to have a long career and be able to meet so many incredible people along the way – and some of them are in this room,” he said. “I look back with no regrets whatsoever.… to be able to have a long career like I have… it allowed me to retire on my own terms.”

Gevril WatchesThose who are in the watch business or students of horologic history know that Gevril is a brand with roots dating back to the mid 1700’s. Founder Jacques Gevril and his descendants were quite talented fellows, standing out from other watchmakers of the day. King Ferdinand VI was so impressed with Jacques Gevril that he appointed him Royal Swiss Watchmaker to the Spanish Crown. In fact, Gevril made his first chronometer, a watch that must keep very accurate time to qualify for the designation, in 1743, and a minute repeater, a watch that tells time through acoustics, in 1758. More than just a master of mechanics Gevril also gained a reputation for making fine dials.

As the centuries moved on, the Gevril brand faded… until watch veteran Samuel Friedmann decided he wanted to own it. Looking into the annals of history he discovered Gevril and its combination of traditional foundations that combined potential for modern relevance. He first presented the new incarnation of the Gevril brand in 2001, all of whose collections have been named in deference to New York City, one of the most spectacular places in the world.

Gevril Avenue of Americas Super Mini Watch CollectionThe Avenue of Americas Super Mini Mother-Of-Pearl Collection takes its name from one of the grand streets that runs through New York City. Also referred to as Sixth Avenue, Avenue of the Americas has witnessed the growth of the City with buildings such as Macy’s department store, Rock Center and Radio City Music Hall taking up residence there.

The Avenue of Americas Super Mini Mother of Pearl collection comes in a delicate 22 mm rectangular case that features a blue or pink-colored mother-of-pearl centerpiece framed by stylized Salvador Dali-esque type hour markers, giving it an avant-garde look. The date window at 6 o’clock blends in seamlessly with the design yet remains at the ready for easy reference. 42 top Wesselton full cut diamonds totaling .45 carats are tastefully embedded on the horizontal sides of the case and lugs, adding just the right amount of sparkle to the Avenue of Americas Super Mini Mother of Pearl to be appropriate in either casual or more formal environments.

Gevril Avenue of Americas Super Mini Watch Collection These two Avenue of Americas blue and pink mother-of-pearl dial models are limited to 500 pieces each and are matched with a corresponding blue or pink calfskin leather band. Reliability is assured with a solid Swiss quality quartz movement.

Gevril WatchesThe Gevril name has been around since the mid 18th century when founder Jacques Gevril made his first chronometer in 1743. Gevril went on to achieve many accomplishments, such as inventing the repetition dial in 1744 and being appointed Royal Swiss Watchmaker to the Spanish Crown under King Ferdinand VI. The brand continued to pass through the generations maintaining a reputation for making fine watches and clocks, including a specialty in enamel dials. To give you an idea of the quality, the Wilsdorf family, the founder of Rolex, chose one of Gevril’s pocket watches to put on display in their own museum.

However, Gevril watches receded to the background until 2001 when Samuel Friedmann bought the rights to the name in order to rejuvenate the brand to its former glory.

All Gevril collections pay tribute to what many consider one of the greatest cities in the world: New York. The Avenue of Americas models take their name from that landmark street that runs through the Big Apple. Otherwise known as Sixth Avenue, Avenue of the Americas has played host to many grand buildings including the Hippodrome Theater, Radio City Music Hall, and one of the granddaddies of them all, Rockefeller Center. It is also the street of choice for the Village Halloween Parade in Greenwich Village.

Gevril Avenue of Americas Glamour Watch CollectionWith such a grand billing, the Gevril Avenue of Americas Glamour women’s watches have a lot to live up to-and they do. In a rectangular stainless steel case that curves to hug the wrist, these limited edition watches have a distinct Art Deco styling reminiscent of the 1930’s. The dial features a date at 6 o’clock and characteristic Arabic script hour markers that punch up the pizzazz.

Gevril adds even more distinction to the women’s Avenue of Americas Glamour line by putting in an automatic movement, as more and more women are realizing the beauty and value of a mechanical movement.

A Sportsman’s Watch that a Gentleman Would Appreciate
Gevril WatchesWhen watch industry insider Samuel Friedmann acquired 265 year old Gevril Horlogerie in 2001, he was determined to build on this historic company’s illustrious watchmaking heritage by creating a collection of contemporary luxury timepieces that maintained the high quality and craftsmanship established by the Swiss company’s master watchmakers.

The impressive Gevril Men’s Sea Cloud Collection offers ample proof that Samuel Friedmann’s vision has been realized. Each of these professional diver timepieces has been hand crafted with such care and detail that sportsmen and gentlemen alike would be proud to wear one. The 40 mm Sea Cloud has been made available in chronograph or GMT configurations with a choice of a unidirectional 60-minute diver bezel, or a bi-directional 24-hour multi-time-zone bezel.

This precision timing tool is engineered to provide a lifetime of reliable service with professional features like a screw-down crown and a massive 316L surgical stainless steel case that is water resistant to 660 feet. The rotating stainless steel bezel features raised, cast steel numbers that that can be read by touch as well as sight. An anti-reflective, scratch resistant sapphire crystal protects a highly readable dial with bright, luminous indices and sword style hands.

These beautifully crafted timepieces come with a solid 316L stainless steel bracelet that is secured with a fashionable deployment safety clasp.

Like all Gevril timepieces, the production of Sea Cloud GMT and Chronometer models has been strictly limited to maintain quality standards. A Gevril watch isn’t for everybody. According to Gevril founder Samuel Friedmann, these exclusive timepieces were created to meet the needs of very discriminating customers who are looking for something unique. If you’ve been looking for a professional diver watch that you could wear to a board meeting, you may be that special customer.

To put one of these superlative timing tools on your wrist, contact your authorized Gevril watch dealer immediately and ask to see the Sea Cloud Collection. You’ll have to act fast, because you’re probably not the only sportsman, or gentleman, who appreciates this kind of quality, and there are very few pieces of this historic watch remaining to be purchased.

Randy Jackson of American Idol

by Erica Love

Randy Jackson may have resigned from his job as a judge, but he will be part of some interesting and exciting new twists on the new season of American Idol. According to FOX, Jackson has stepped into a new role where he will mentor contestants on the show.

Jackson was a longtime judge and has been a part of the American Idol vocal talent competition since its inception in 2002. He announced he was leaving the show at the end of the last season. However, he will still be vitally influential to the contestants, albeit in a different capacity.

“There’s a new role for Randy this year, it’s a sort of Randy Jackson workshop,” says Idol executive producer Trish Kinane. Randy is going to be hosting a new round that will represent a two-day workshop between the contenders and Jackson, “where the kids who got through to the live show have an education, if you like, in song choices, personal style and other things … where they can discover things about themselves.”

Jackson is replacing Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine, who left the show due to some internal issues that also influenced the resignations of judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, as well as executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick.

Randy Jackson is more than qualified to mold the promising young musicians who come through the American Idol competition. While Jackson is most well-known for being an American Idol judge, Jackson has recorded, produced, or toured with many well-known artists and bands, ranging from Mariah Carey to ‘N Sync, Whitney Houston, Céline Dion, and Madonna.

During the Novak Djokovic Foundation Gala Dinner in New York City, Randy Jackson expressed his excitement about his new role, and his feelings about the 2014 season of American Idol: “I’ve moved to the higher court now.”

Jackson also expressed his support for and confidence in returning judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez, and a brand new judge, Harry Connick Jr. “I know them all very, very well,” Jackson said. “They’re all amazing people, great in their own right, very credible, really cool, funny.”

Gevril WatchesGreta Garbo, Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich, Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz. What do all these women have in common? Glamour! It’s that quality that makes people exciting, desirable and special. All of us ladies want to be a member of this elite group. Perhaps you think you can’t be.

Never fear. Though the above mentioned ‘Glamourati’ may seem like they were born to define the term, they weren’t. Therein lies the secret. Glamour isn’t a gift given only to the lucky, it’s a studied art. And, the good news is, it’s obtainable by anyone—as long as you utilize the correct tools.

Glamour isn’t a singular quality. For a woman to be defined as glamorous, many pieces are required to make up the whole. It’s everything from clothes and makeup to hairstyle, posture and attitude. And, of course, there are the accessories. There’s a reason for the phrase “Accessories Make the Woman.”

One glamour accessory that’s crucial to the picture is a timepiece. Pick the wrong one and it can ruin the whole effect. As can always be expected from Gevril watches, with the Glamour Watch Collection, women can’t go wrong. In and of itself, the Glamour is, well, glamorous. In a 34 x 44 mm stainless steel case, its dial is spare and features clean lines with stylized Arabic numerals with a date at 6 o’clock. But this simplicity is an asset. Have you ever seen glamor that’s overly complicated and too busy?

The Glamour kicks into a high gear by placing in the dial a colored square accent around which are the seconds hashes. Knowing that each woman is her own individual, Glamour offers a variety of color combinations. The square accent comes in green, pink, blue or white, with the option of the same colors in a luminescent mother-of-pearl.

Of course, glamor demands a little sparkle and the Gevril Glamour Collection definitely has it. Depending on how much twinkling you prefer, the Glamour watch comes in four combinations: diamonds all around the bezel; diamonds on top and bottom of bezel; diamonds on two sides of the bezel; and diamonds all around bezel and on the 2 sides of case.

The pretty Glamour package, which is powered by a solid and reliable automatic movement wraps around the wrist with a calfskin band that matches the square accent in green, pink, blue and white. There’s also the option of a red band to go with the pink models.

The Gevril Glamour watch is a definite asset to women who want to be glamorous — and, remember, ladies, we are all capable of standing alongside Greta, Marlene and Penelope.

Federico Castelluccio and James Gandolfini in The Sopranos

by Erica Love

Artist and actor Federico Castelluccio is a highly accomplished celebrity whose achievements in both theater and fine arts make him a creative force to be reckoned with. Castelluccio translates his aesthetic into varying mediums and applications, thereby showcasing his talent and style in Hollywood and beyond.

Castelluccio: The Actor

Federico Castelluccio is best known for his role as the Neapolitan Enforcer, Furio Giunta, on the HBO TV series, The Sopranos. The iconic and acclaimed series starred the late James Gandolfini, whom Castelluccio called “one of the greatest actors of our time” during an appearance on the Today Show with Matt Lauer.

Castelluccio was also featured in Made alongside Jon Favreau, NYPD Blue, and Diary of a Hitman with Danny Aiello. Castelluccio developed his acting talents in summer stock, off-off-Broadway, and various Shakespeare festivals during the mid-’80s, eventually signing on with the Flock and Eclectic theater companies.

Castelluccio: The Artist

Perhaps less known, yet no less impressive, Castelluccio is also an internationally renowned visual artist, and received a full presidential scholarship to the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Before becoming an actor, Federico Castelluccio first rose to fame as an award-winning illustrator when actor George Burns personally commissioned him to paint his portrait. Burns was so impressed with Castelluccio that he recommended him to executives at PBS and ABC. His paintings have been praised for their exceptional quality and demonstration of high-level technical ability.

Federico Castelluccio’s works are held in public collections across the globe, including Palazzo Chigi, Yale University Art Gallery, Tisch Fine Art Collection, Gillette Corporation, Schering-Plough Corporation and Sotheby’s in Manhattan.

Hollywood Influence

Many well known celebrities also own Federico’s original work, such as Whoopi Goldberg, Caroline Rhea, Joe Pantoliano, Geoffrey Holder, Donald Trump, Paul Hogan, and the great blues legend, Buddy Guy.

During the fourth season of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice, Donald Trump asked Castelluccio to judge a celebrity hat design competition. He chose La Toya Jackson, who won $25,000 for her charity, the AIDS Project Los Angeles.

Gevril and GV2 Headline a Stellar Array of
Gevril Group Brands at Couture Las Vegas
Gevril WatchesThe Wynn Hotel’s Chambertin 2 Ballroom was home to many popular Gevril Group brands during the recently concluded Couture watch and jewelry show, including Gevril’s own Gevril and GV2 timepieces.

When Samuel Friedmann acquired historic Swiss watchmaker Gevril Horlogerie, he was determined to build on this company’s illustrious watchmaking heritage. The company’s signature Avenue of the Americas line is still popular today and is based on a case design that was discovered in Gevril’s historical archives. The distinctive retro look of this luxury timepiece, with its beveled dial and beautifully hand painted numbers, got a lot of attention from visitors at the Couture show.

A newer Gevril design, the unique Columbus Circle model also received a lot of favorable buzz at the show. The dial of this spectacular watch immediately catches your attention with a day/date display featuring a rotating inner dial with seven astrological symbols representing each day of the week. This watch is engraved with a beautiful etching of New York’s famed Columbus Circle on the case back and features an observation window revealing the precision Swiss made ETA 2834-2 automatic movement inside.

Prominently displayed at the front of the Gevril display case was the spectacular Gevril Serenade 5850. This stylish Art Deco design features a dual time-zone dial with white gold hands for the primary time zone and a blue, skeletonized hand for the secondary zone. Unique to this watch are two day/night disks at 3 and 9 o’clock that indicate AM or PM hours in their respective time zone. This exclusive timepiece is available in white gold, rose gold, or platinum in editions that are strictly limited to just 50 pieces worldwide.

Gevril’s trend-setting GV2 line was well represented at the Couture show by popular collections, including the GV2 Corsaro, Powerball and Parachute. The striking looking Corsaro made a big statement at this year’s show with an oversized two-layer 316L stainless steel case that harmoniously combines two very different angular and round geometries. This stylish, precision chronograph features a unique double layer textured dial with three well-placed subdials for timing events.

The GV2 Powerball has been a popular favorite since it was initially introduced. It is hard to ignore the amazing three-dimensional dial that calls attention to a continuous small second hand at 6 o’clock and the big date indicator at 12 o’clock. With a beautifully partially skeletonized dial that reveals the two date wheels below, just telling the time with this amazing watch can be a mesmerizing experience.

The rugged looking GV2 Parachute Chronograph is a precision timing instrument that makes quite a fashion statement as well. This spectacular diver style watch features a dramatic two-tone rotating diver bezel marked in 60-minute increments and three well-placed subdials for timing events. The oversize 45 mm stainless steel case is water resistant to 165 feet.

The activity in the Chambertin 2 Ballroom during this year’s Couture show suggests that, despite what the ads say, everything in Vegas doesn’t necessarily stay in Vegas. If the Gevril and GV2 order books are any indication, there are going to be a lot more of these amazing watches on people’s wrists all over the country this year.

If you attended the Couture Show this year, it didn’t take long to discover that everything you needed to know about fine timepieces was located in the Chambertin 2 Ballroom.

Couture 2013 is over, but the glitter and shine from this spectacular jewelry and watch show will linger throughout the year. For many attendees, the Couture Show, held every year at the luxurious Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, has become the most important event on their calendar.

For Gevril Group, the Couture Show has become just as essential as the more established Baselworld show in Switzerland. According to Gevril President Samuel Friedmann, Couture is more effective at meeting the needs of North American jewelers and retailers. “This show is mandatory for American luxury retailers,” says Friedmann. These retailers certainly got a treat when they visited The Chambertin 2 Ballroom, home to Gevril Group during the five-day show.

Showcasing some of the industry’s most popular watch brands, Gevril Group’s convenient location, just a few feet away from the Couture registration desk, provided attendees with an unprecedented opportunity to discover emerging trends and hot new fashion ideas. “This was our most successful show ever,” said Gevril Executive Vice President David Yurowitz. “Customers are taking a new look at our company and are very eager to participate in all the projects and brands we have rolled out. The success of Couture 2013 was a record-breaking achievement for Gevril and we see this as a stepping stone for the future of our company.”
Gevril Group Couture Show 2013 Banners

Paul Ziff, president of Ferragamo Timepieces in the United States, concurs. “There was a definite buzz in the Chambertin 2 Ballroom as customers and prospects gathered to view our Gevril collection of brands,” says Ziff. “The new Ferragamo Lungarno automatics and the fashion-forward Minuetto line were particularly well received by the press and retailers. Bloomingdales buyers even made a point during their appointment to say that they are very proud and excited to have just launched the Ferragamo timepiece line in eight Bloomingdales locations with more to follow.”

The Versace and Versus displays were both popular destinations for jewelers and retailers. Kari Allen, President of Versace Timepieces for the USA and Caribbean, had her best year ever at Couture. She attributes her success to the great teamwork exhibited by the Gevril staff. “It takes a lot of effort throughout our organization to achieve our goals and I very much appreciate all the support,” says Allen.

Miriam Tress, representing Gevril’s popular Fortis brand, says Gevril Group had lots to be proud of during Couture 2013. “The Chambertin 2 ballroom was exquisite and served as an impressive showcase for a wider variety of watch brands than any other exhibitor, says Miriam. “I observed a constant excitement and buzz in the air from our many current and new customers. You could see respect and admiration for Gevril Group and the values they stand for.”

From the opening night concert by popular rockers Neon Trees, to the highly anticipated Couture Design Awards, Couture 2013 was an event to savor and remember. Once again, Couture was joined by the prestigious Watch Journal to present Couture Time, a carefully curated collection of the world’s finest timepieces.

“There is no substitute for seeing, touching, and admiring one of the most diverse collections of fine timepieces available today,” says Samuel Friedmann. “People are amazed at how many fine brands we offer, and Couture gives us the opportunity to show these customers how we can help build their business, both before and after the sale.”

Las Vegas has always been known for putting on a good show, and Couture 2013 was no exception. This prestigious event has become an essential destination for anyone serious about selling luxury goods. That’s a big reason why Gevril Group plans to be back again next year.

Live from Couture Las Vegas

Exhibitors, retailers and media from around the world are in Las Vegas this week for Couture – the most prestigious U.S. based watch and jewelry event of the year. Couture runs from May 30 to June 3 at the lavish Wynn Resort.

Now in its 17th year, Couture is thriving. Last year the number of timepiece exhibitors at the show doubled, drawing even greater attention to the current assembly of renowned international participants.

Gevril Group and its family of brands are on hand once again showcasing the latest novelties in the Chambertin 2 Ballroom at the Wynn Resort. A remarkable array of watches from Catorex, Ferragamo, Fortis, Gattinoni, Gevril, Gio Monaco, GV2, Haemmer, Haurex, Johan Eric, Jowissa, Louis Erard, Meccaniche Veloci, Rudiger, Versace, Versus and Viceroy are on display.

For some, Couture is a first look at the hottest watches of the year. Here is a taste of what guests are talking about this week.

Versace Vanitas

The Versace Vanitas cultivates elements from its ethereal cousins, the Reve and Eon collections, into a glamorous new design replete with quintessential Versace details along with a few new ones like an enamel dial with relief baroque pattern strewn with studs or diamonds. The deluxe white version pictured has diamonds on the dial and on the flange. The bezel is also enamel. The IP rose gold case is 40 mm in diameter and the movement is a Swiss made quartz Ronda 762.3. Dials are available in red, black or white enamel and the straps are available in red, black or white leather.
Couture 2013 Las Vegas

Versace DV One Skeleton

Versace’s clever and modish skeleton design combines the brand’s most iconic watch case – the DV One – with its celebrated fashion sensibility. Finishing techniques such as linear graining, polishing and perlage are visible on the Dubois Dépraz chronograph module and base movement. The case is a confident 43.5 mm and made from an alloy of ceramic and titanium. The result is an extremely hard and lightweight substance that is highly resistant to scratches. The bracelet and bezel are also made of ceramic titanium. The DV One Skeleton is produced in a limited edition of 500 pieces.

Ferragamo Lungarno

Ferragamo continues to expand in the mechanical watch category with the three-handed automatic Lungarno. The bezel, which riffs on designs by legendary watchmaker Gérald Genta, has all the qualities of a classic sports watch with an equal amount of Florentine styling. The brushed stainless steel case is 44 mm in diameter and the bezel is IP gold. The champagne-colored soleil dial pictured is one of three available; black and silver are the others. The dark brown leather strap is an elegant complement, but sportier steel or two-tone bracelets are also available.

Ferragamo Minuetto

Ferragamo introduced its Minuetto collection at Baselworld 2013. Minuetto, the Italian word for minuet, is a style of dance. Accordingly, the Minuetto collection introduces motion by way of a rotating gancino – the iconic symbol of Ferragamo. The gancino holds 32 diamonds and moves by way of a circular guilloche-patterned mount. The watch is 36 mm in diameter and available in either steel, IP rose gold or a two-tone combination. In addition to saffiano leather straps, the Minuetto can be had on a stainless steel bracelet. Minuetto watches contain Swiss made Ronda 762 quartz movements.

Gevril Avenue of Americas

Catch the blue trend with the newest watch in the Avenue of the Americas collection. The unmistakable 1930s deco styling of the 44 x 34 mm rectangular case and bezel are augmented by the addition of a jazzy blue PVD-coating, which also appears on the crown and buckle. The dial is dark blue as is the leather strap. Celebrated for the comfort of its slightly curved case, this three-handed model with a date function also boasts the dependability of an ETA 2892 movement – one of the most robust automatic movements available today.

Fortis Spacematic

Spacematic watches first appeared in the 1960s as a tribute to manned space travel and stand out for their sturdy utilitarian construction and highly legible dials. The latest model is 40 mm in diameter and has a brushed stainless steel case with an open-dial design, exposing the date and bilingual (English or German) day wheels. The movement is a robust ETA 2836-2. A range of straps in silicone, textile or leather, as well as a stainless steel bracelet provide additional versatility.

Versus Agadir

This jewelry-inspired design is named after the Moroccan coastal town of Agadir and features a red dial with a lion silhouette and matching lion silhouette charms. The bracelet, to which the charms attach, is composed of round chain links and is rich with ornamental appeal. The stainless steel case is coated with IP yellow gold, adding to the watch’s fiery personality. Only the delicate size of its 36 mm case provides counterpoise. The heart of this lion is a casbah-rocking Citizen 2025 quartz movement.

Versus Manhattan

Play it safe? Not Versus. The bright red Versus Manhattan bi-compax chronograph is a large 44 mm timekeeper that is sure to catch the attention of any warm-blooded watch lover. The unusual chronograph sub-dial placement is noteworthy, with a small 30-minute counter at 10 o’clock side-by-side with a large perpetual seconds counter at 2 o’clock. A large open-date wheel at 6 o’clock maintains the theme of good legibility. The quartz movement is an ISA Swiss 8171/202 with patented double rotor motor. The case is made of stainless steel and the strap is made of matching red rubber.

The Couture experience is defined by more than luxury goods and rising stars: it is also about providing an environment conducive to building lasting partnerships. Sun-filled Las Vegas provides an exquisite backdrop. Spirits run high and the mood is magical – it is no surprise that attendance is on the rise, buyers arrive motivated and business is lively. You have got to be here!

Chris Botti Wears Gevril Avenue of Americas GMT Power Reserve Watch https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/chris-botti-wears-gevril-avenue-of-americas-gmt-power-reserve-watch/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/chris-botti-wears-gevril-avenue-of-americas-gmt-power-reserve-watch/#respond Mon, 12 Nov 2012 20:16:57 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=9771 by Steven Jay

Grammy-nominated trumpet player, Chris Botti is the world’s best-selling jazz instrumentalist. He recently came off a six-week tour, performing with legendary vocalist Barbara Streisand as well as revisiting the prestigious Zeiterion Arts Center last week, dazzling those in attendance with his horn blowing genius.

In 2009 Chris recorded his DVD Live in Boston at the Zeiterion, so this event had special meaning for him. Rolling Stones backup singer Lisa Fischer joined Mr. Botti to help bring a variety of music styles into the performance. He performed songs from his most recent album Impressions which featured an amazing cast of musicians including Andrea Bocelli, Vince Gill and Herbie Hancock to name few.

Staying busy and keeping in touch with his audience is paramount to Botti. He firmly believes that in order for an artist to remain relevant he must continue to tour regularly, keeping himself and his music alive in the hearts and minds of his fans. Chris explains “You need to care about your audience and whether they are getting music that they love. A lot of artists, especially those in their 20s, say, ‘Oh, the road is too difficult. I’m going to take four years off.’ And then their audience goes, ‘Goodbye.’ I don’t want that to happen to me. I want to be able to tour well into my 60s or 70s if I can still play the horn.” Botti continues “You have to sacrifice a lot of life for the benefits of being able to walk on stage every night and be grateful that there is an audience there for you because they can just as easily spend their money and go download the latest and greatest thing and not come to your show,” said Botti. “That’s something that I’m well aware of.”

Chris is not only a talented world renowned musician, but a man who understands that you not only have to “play the part” but “look the part as well.” He established his trademark stage attire of fine suits on the recommendation of former Tonight Show trumpet player Doc Severinsen. He is quick to explain the wonderful feeling he experiences wearing fine clothing “The way my body moves inside a suit. They fit the body well, but they are also made of great fabric. It lays on you, it travels well and doesn’t get ruined or lose its shape.”

Botti is a fan of fine timepieces as well. Amongst his collection of Panerai and IWC is a Limited Edition Gevril Avenue of Americas GMT Power Reserve that he wore to Gevril’s worldwide launch event of the Avenue of Americas “Serenade.” The timepiece was a special gift from Gevril owner Samuel Friedmann. Botti attended the event in the company of other Gevril celebrity owners Mario Andretti, Joan Collins, Anne Hathaway as well as the late Paul Newman.

Denzel Washington Stars in “Flight” https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/denzel-washington-stars-in-flight/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/denzel-washington-stars-in-flight/#respond Fri, 28 Sep 2012 20:05:04 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=9234
by John Sealander

We’re sure you’re going to watch Denzel Washington’s new film “Flight,” but can you remember what watch he was wearing when he starred in “Inside Man?”

Denzel Washington is one of Hollywood’s most exciting and enduring actors. He has already won two Academy Awards, one for his supporting role in Glory and a second for his leading role in Training Day. Denzel got his first big break when he landed the role of Dr. Phillip Chandler in the hit TV show St. Elsewhere in 1982. Ever since, there has been no stopping this talented performer.

Denzel Washington has helped ensure the success of dozens of blockbuster hits, including Philadelphia, Malcolm X, The Pelican Brief, Crimson Tide, The Preacher’s Wife, He Got Game and The Hurricane. In addition to his two Oscars, he has also been awarded a Golden Globe for starring in Remember the Titans.

In addition to improving the visibility of these major Hollywood blockbusters, Washington has also improved the visibility for one of the world’s premier timepieces. In 2006, when Denzel starred in Spike Lee’s popular thriller Inside Man, he personally selected a Gevril timepiece to be a part of his wardrobe in the film. Several other cast members wore Gevril timepieces in this action packed thriller as well.

Denzel’s fascination with thrillers continues to this day. On November 2, 2012 the world will see Denzel as a pilot who saves a flight from crashing in the new thriller titled Flight. When an investigation of the crash reveals some troubling details, we can only wonder what would have happened if Washington had been wearing a Gevril watch in this film as well.

Be sure to see Denzel Washington in Flight. And be sure to see the new collection of fine Gevril timepieces at your nearest authorized Gevril dealer.

Martin Sheen to Help Son Charlie with “Anger Management” https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/martin-sheen-to-help-son-charlie-with-anger-management/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/martin-sheen-to-help-son-charlie-with-anger-management/#respond Mon, 13 Aug 2012 14:36:27 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=8522 by Steven Jay

He has played every role from President on The West Wing, to veteran U.S. Army special operations officer in the legendary film Apocalypse Now. However perhaps the most challenging role Martin Sheen has ever faced is that of father to children Emilio, Ramon, Carlos (Charlie) and Renée.

Born Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez to immigrant parents in Dayton Ohio, his affinity for both acting, as well as political activism was evident from a young age. At 14 while working as a golf caddy, he organized a strike of all golf caddies due to the mean and foul language he and his co-workers endured from the clubs members. He felt that men of such esteem and position should not be using “abusive and anti-Semitic” language in front of the young boys. Later he would go on to achieve renown not only for his acting prowess but for his more than 60 arrests for civil disobedience in support of issues ranging from apartheid, racism, homelessness to nuclear testing.

Although his father was against his desire to pursue acting, Sheen decided to give it a go. At the early age of 20, he borrowed money from a Catholic priest and moved to New York with hopes of making it in theater. Casting director Robert Dale Martin, with whom he received his first break into the industry, inspired his adoption of the stage name Martin Sheen.

Sheen quickly found success on stage as well as television but his real rise to stardom came in 1973 starring in the crime drama; Badlands. Sheen later gained worldwide recognition as Captain Willard in Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now. His acting excellence has earned him a Golden Globe and 2 SAG awards for his role as President Bartlett in The West Wing, as well as an Emmy for his guest appearances in the sitcom Murphy Brown.

Fame and fortune do not come without a price and for Martin Sheen much of that price was paid by his family. For his children, being raised by a father who often times ruled their lives under the influence of alcohol and drugs has left indelible scars that remain to this day. Most evident is its effect on son, Charlie. An A-list actor in his own right, Charlie has led a roller coaster life of great success in his career and, unfortunately, devastating failure in his personal affairs.

Somewhere in the not so distant past Gevril Group’s Steven Jay had the chance to meet with Martin in Los Angeles during a photo-shoot for WatchTime Magazine. The shoot was for a feature in which Mr. Sheen was wearing his Gevril Avenue of Americas timepiece. Steven asked him for some parenting advice. Mr. Sheen was candid and explained, “If I had the chance to do it over again I would not have been so hard on my children physically, emotionally and spiritually.”

Second chances are becoming a reality for Martin Sheen as he assumes the on screen role of Charlie’s father in the hit FX comedy Anger Management. FX recruited the veteran actor in an attempt to transform the show into a multi-generational program that would attract a larger audience. For the Sheens it will be a time for healing, for the fans it will be a chance to be entertained by a father and son who happen to be two great actors while they do what they do best: act.

Joan Rivers Taking Gevril Seriously https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/joan-rivers-taking-gevril-seriously/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/joan-rivers-taking-gevril-seriously/#respond Tue, 07 Aug 2012 21:47:09 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=8108 by Steven Jay

She’s funny, brash, outlandish, scandalous, “plastic” and downright rude! Call her what you want but Joan Rivers is at 79, still a major celebrity. Born Joan Alexandra Molinsky and raised in Brooklyn New York, she found fame in mocking the absurdities of her own life as well as Hollywood’s most celebrated tabloid newsmakers.

Joan Rivers, Wearing Her Gevril 'Glamour' TimepieceAfter graduating from Barnard College in 1954 with a BA in both English Literature and Anthropology, she hopped from job to job trying to find her niche. She worked as a Tour Guide at Rockefeller Center, a proofreader and as a fashion consultant. It was agent Tony Rivers that suggested she adopt a new last name to support her desire for a career in acting.

She began her career in New York Theater during the late 1950’s and transitioned into television during the early 1960’s. She made her first television appearance on The Tonight Show, when Jack Paar hosted the program. Soon after, Johnny Carson replaced Mr. Paar and made Joan the first sole guest of the show.

It proved to be the propulsion that would take her career to the next level. She would later go on to host her own talk shows; The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers and The Joan Rivers Show for which she won her first Emmy, in 1989.

In addition to being one of the worlds most famous comedians, Joan Rivers is a also a woman of fabulous style, so much so that she is regularly found on “Best Dressed” lists from around the world. From 1996 thru 2007 she found herself putting those fashion skills to good use. She hosted, alongside her daughter Melissa, the “Red Carpet” pre-award shows for E!, and was a reporter of celebrity fashion for TV Guide. Those who fell into Joan’s good graces were richly rewarded with accolades and those who did not became the fodder for scathing satirical criticism.

It was during this period that Joan was introduced to Gevril by their V.P. of Public Relations, Steven Jay. As Steven explains; “Joan was looking for an oversized watch with a lot of ‘bling’ to wear for reporting from the Oscars ‘Red Carpet’. When she got a look at the ‘Avenue of Americas Glamour’ with its 44mm rectangular case, red mother of pearl dial and 2.25 carats of diamonds, she knew it was exactly what she was looking for.” She loved the timepiece so much; she not only wore it on the “Red Carpet”, but on her post Oscars show, The Fashion Police, and continues to regularly wear it at the many prestigious social gatherings she attends.

With a dual time zone Gevril Avenue of Americas GMT Power Reserve on his wrist, Sting won’t need to worry about forgetting his birthday again.

Legendary singer, songwriter, actor and activist Sting is one of the most recognizable musicians in the world. On his own and as a member of The Police, Sting has received sixteen Grammy Awards, plus a Golden Globe, an Emmy and several Oscar nominations. This globe-trotting rocker is a member of both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

With a career that has taken him around the world many times, it is not surprising that Sting occasionally loses track of the time. Once, while playing a concert in California, Sting glanced down at his watch and tried to calculate the time difference to London. It was only when he realized that it was already eight hours later in London, that he knew he had forgotten his own birthday.

When Steven Jay of Gevril Group heard this story from his friend and fellow Sting band member Chris Botti, he knew it was time for a belated birthday present. Botti, who had played trumpet with Sting’s touring band for over three years, agreed to set up a meeting between Sting and Steven Jay.

Chris Botti felt like Sting’s October 19th 2004 “Sacred Love” concert at Madison Square Garden would be the perfect time to present the singer with a surprise birthday present. After the concert, Gevril representative Steven Jay was warmly welcomed backstage where Sting was presented with a special, handmade, limited edition, Gevril Avenue of Americas GMT Power Reserve timepiece with dual time zones.

Sting loved the impressive looking watch and immediately exclaimed “an early Christmas present?!” It was at this point that Steven revealed the story of how he had learned of Sting’s difficulties in calculating London time on his old watch at the California concert. He then told Sting that the Avenue of the Americas timepiece was in fact a belated birthday gift from his friends at Gevril.

Now, wherever Sting’s travels take him, he’ll never need to worry about forgetting his birthday again. In its own way, the massive 18K rose gold Avenue of Americas timepiece is a superstar as well. This special limited edition dual time zone watch is one of the finest timepieces ever made and has long been a favorite of celebrities. On stage and off, this Swiss made performer seems right at home on the wrist of the one and only Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner.

Veteran Actress Helen Mirren to Receive Hollywood Star https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/veteran-actress-helen-mirren-to-receive-hollywood-star/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/veteran-actress-helen-mirren-to-receive-hollywood-star/#respond Wed, 01 Aug 2012 00:55:17 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=7766 by Steven Jay

Helen Mirren has an Oscar for her monumental role as The Queen as well as four SAG Awards, four BAFTA’s, three Golden Globes, four Emmy’s, two Best Actress awards at Cannes and is about to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. As if that’s not enough she also owns a stunning diamond Gevril Avenue of Americas Mini.

Mirren knew at the tender age of six, she wanted to become an actress in the “old fashioned and traditional sense.” At the age of 18 she landed the role of Cleopatra with the British National Youth Theater. Her performance as Cleopatra was so well received that it led to her acceptance as a member of the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company. During her 8 year tenure with the RSC, she appeared as Cressida, Julia, Ophelia, Miss Julie, Lady Macbeth and Queen Margaret.

Mirren continued to flourish and gain popularity in theater throughout Europe, but it wasn’t until 1967 when she appeared in her first motion picture, Herostratus, that her career began to really blossom. Over the years she starred in a variety of television shows, movies and Broadway theater productions. In 2006 Mirren took on a career and life altering role starring in The Queen. Critics everywhere lauded her performance as “groundbreaking,” and her celebrity status shot through the stratosphere. The “Academy” was so enamored with her performance, that she was awarded the coveted Oscar for Best Actress.

A woman of beauty and style, Mirren is naturally drawn to accessories that exude femininity and simplicity; it is no wonder that she owns the very elegant and demure Gevril Avenue of Americas Mini. When she experienced the timepiece for the first time she proclaimed, “Now isn’t that quite girly” and instantly fell in love with it. Mirren is one of many “A” list celebrities who have come to appreciate the rich history, impeccable quality, technical innovation and aesthetic beauty of Gevril.

Steven Jay’s excitement in spearheading the ShopHQ launch is palpable as he explains: “For seven years I was very fortunate to have worked alongside Samuel Friedman, Gevril’s owner and source of inspiration. Together, Mr. Friedmann and I retold the marvelous story of how Jacques Gevril began by restoring timepiece in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland and went on to achieve tremendous success, eventually becoming the official watchmaker to King Ferdinand VI of Spain in 1758.

“Gevril today imbues its skilled craftsmen with Jacques Gevril’s watchmaking spirit and creates remarkable collections that are found in watch shops across the world from of New York to Moscow.

“Fine timepieces, by their very nature, capture not just the eye through their beauty or the heart through technical innovation. Rather, such timepieces capture the very soul of the wearer, through the brand’s inherent rich, romantic genealogy that often dates back several hundred years. To be able once again to join forces with a brand like Gevril and share it with the ShopHQ audience is a very special opportunity.”

GV2 watches have been infused with the same rich tradition, high quality materials and craftsmanship that go into Gevril timepieces but provide the added benefits of unequaled value and novel, innovative designs. Precursor to Modern Gevril Watch Styles Discovered in Geneva Museum https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/precursor-to-modern-gevril-watch-styles-discovered-in-geneva-museum/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/precursor-to-modern-gevril-watch-styles-discovered-in-geneva-museum/#respond Sun, 11 Mar 2012 20:52:33 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=5530

Gevril WatchesGevril Horlogerie has had a long and illustrious history. Jacques Gevril, who founded the company in 1743, became Switzerland’s first watch exporter when he was appointed Royal Swiss Watchmaker to the Spanish Crown. Many of Jacques Gevril’s descendants followed in the family tradition and became master watchmakers as well.

Recently, Gevril owner Samuel Friedmann discovered a watch on display at the Musee de l’Horlogerie in Geneva, Switzerland that had been created by one of these relatives. The watch had been made by Daniel Gevril, who also happened to be Mayor of Geneva at the time. The remarkable thing about this beautiful timepiece is that it features a dial that is very similar to several Gevril watches the watchmaker is currently producing.

Daniel Gevril Historic Watch - Front View

According to Mr. Friedmann, the discovery was an affirmation of his commitment to maintaining the legacy of this historic brand. “I always wanted to make sure that our current collections have something in common with the watches from our past,” said Friedmann “This ongoing connection to history, while using today’s best technology to update our historic roots, is key to our success.”

As you can see, the dial of this historic pocket watch is neither new nor old. It is classic! Timeless styling and impeccable craftsmanship have always been the hallmark of a Gevril timepiece. You could see the quality then, and you can still see it today.

If the timeless styling and superlative craftsmanship are important to you, contact your authorized Gevril dealer immediately. Gevril watches are manufactured in limited numbers, and a only few lucky individuals can actually own one instead of merely looking at it in a museum.

The Gevril signature Avenue of Americas Collection just got even more exciting with the addition of nine new models featuring a new look and a new automatic movement.

The classic case design that has made Avenue of Americas watches so popular with discriminating buyers hasn’t changed, but there are new refinements that will make the Collection even more desirable. For example, the newly announced Gevril 5007A model features elegant applied blued steel numbers and hands with a beautiful eggshell dial. This combination is a first for Avenue of Americas and gives the watch a distinctive, refined appearance. A date window at 6 o’clock completes the look.

Another of the new models, the elegant Gevril 5045A, adds a classic small second hand at six o’clock, giving the watch a distinctly retro look that will appeal to many buyers. This elegant timepiece features elegant Rose Gold numbers and hands, adding an understated, luxurious look and feel to the watch.

The new watches feature a 316L surgical stainless steel case and some, including the 5045A pictured above, even use an entirely new movement for the Avenue of Americas: the popular ETA 2895 movement. This highly regarded movement has long been a favorite of high-end watch manufacturers and is used by Bulgari, Omega, Girard Perregaux and many other famous watch brands. Watchmakers around the world give this precision automatic movement exceptionally high marks for accuracy and reliability.

These exciting new additions to the Avenue of Americas Collection continue the Gevril tradition of masterfully blending old with new to create innovative and truly original timepieces. The 5007A and 5045A, like all Avenue of Americas timepieces, are equipped with anti-reflective sapphire crystals and your choice of a beautiful Louisiana Crocodile band or a sporty natural caoutchouc strap.

The Avenue of Americas has always been a watch for individuals who know their own mind. Now, with nine more models to choose from, there is even more room to express your individuality on your wrist. If the Avenue of Americas unique combination of quality and individuality appeals to you, please contact your Gevril dealer immediately.

Gevril watches are manufactured in limited numbers and only a few lucky individuals will ever have the opportunity to own one of these exclusive timepieces.

Nicollette Sheridan and Gevril Watches https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/nicollette-sheridan-and-gevril-watches/ https://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/nicollette-sheridan-and-gevril-watches/#respond Thu, 04 Aug 2011 15:30:12 +0000 http://gevrilgroup.com/watchbrands/?p=2316 by Jack Goldenberg

Two Stylish Performers

Nicollette SheridanNicollette Sheridan is an English-American film and television actress best known for roles as the conniving vixen Paige Matheson on Knots Landing and Edie Brill on Desperate Housewives. Born in Worthing, West Sussex England and raised in London, she had acting in her blood as the daughter of actress Sally Sheridan (née Adams). Early in her career she acted in commercials, including a commercial for Martini.

In 1972, her mother had an affair with fellow actor Telly Savalas when they were in the James Bond film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Unlike many short-lived love affairs that spring up and die down on the sets of movie lots, Telly Savalas and Sally Sheridan fell in love and after the production phase was over, Telly transported Nicollette and her mom to the United States.

In 1984, Nicollette made her show business debut in the primetime soap opera Paper Dolls. Two years later, in 1986, Nicollette got her first big break when she won the role of Paige Matheson on the CBS-TV prime soap, Knots Landing. At first, Nicollette was a guest on the series, but as her popularity on the series grew, she was offered a leading role as a series regular in the 1988-89 season.

Pretty soon her acting ability was championed by her peers and in 1990 she won the Soap Opera Digest Award for “Outstanding Lead Actress: Prime Time” and the 1991 Soap Opera Digest Award for “Outstanding Heroine: Prime Time.” That same year she also was named one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People.

When Knots Landing was cancelled in 1993 after 14 years, it looked like Nicollette might be relegated to the B and C-List roles in independent films that befall stars who have lost their public appeal. But her career picked up even bigger than before when she landed the role of the conniving sexpot Edie Britt in ABC-TV’s mega primetime hit Desperate Housewives.

The popularity of Desperate Housewives was the second time lightning struck Nicollette’s acting career and in 2005 she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. Four year later, Nicollette announced that she was leaving the hit show and two months later her character in the series met an untimely end.

Nicollette Sheridan Appreciates the Stylish Beauty of Gevril Watches Avenue of the Americas Collection

Nicollete Sheridan’s career brought her much success, and she acquired a taste for the finer things in life. That may explain why, when it came time for her to choose a luxury watch, she chose not one, but two timepieces from the Gevril Avenue of the Americas Collection. Nicollete couldn’t make up her mind which watch was more stylish, the Avenue of the Americas Gold or the Glamour watch. But she didn’t have to. She now owns both of them.

Two Outstanding Performers

Brad Garrett of Everybody Loves Raymond Wearing a Watch from the Gevril Avenue of the Americas CollectionBrad Garrett, an American actor best known for his portrayal as Ray Romano’s big brother on the critically acclaimed CBS-TV series Everybody Loves Raymond has performed a number of roles in his 27 years in show business, including actor, voice actor, stand-up comedian and even professional poker player.

He started his career in 1984 as a stand-up comedian after dropping out of UCLA after less than one semester. His first big break was winning the $100,000 Grand Prize on the syndicated talent competition Star Search. That victory earned him an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. He was only 23 when he appeared on The Tonight Show and “working for Johnny” kicked his career into high gear.

Soon he was the opening act for some of the top show business personalities in America, including Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross, Liza Minnelli, David Copperfield and the Beach Boys. His fame rocketed to stardom in 1996 with his role as Ray Romano’s sad-sack brother on Everybody Loves Raymond. His performances received rave reviews and he won him three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

He also won seven Screen Actors Guild Award nominations (1998-2005) for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and took home the winning statuette in 2002 along with his fellow actors. His height (6 feet 8 ½ inches) almost caused him a problem in 2002 when he played the role of comic legend Jackie Gleason in the made-for-TV biopic Gleason. He had to be filmed so the public wouldn’t notice he was a foot taller than the famed comedian from The Honeymooners.

Brad Garrett Appreciates the Performance of the Prestigious Gevril Watches Avenue of the Americas Collection

As it turns out, Brad Garrett is as serious about the watches he wears as he is about the successful roles he portrays. He proudly chose two prestigious watches from the Gevril Avenue of the Americas Collection, the Day Date Moon Phase and the GMT Power Reserve timepieces.

Brag Garrett and Gevril watches are two timeless performers. Brad also appeared on Broadway, on the silver screen, in another sitcom, ‘Til Death (2006-2010) and in a number of movies and his vocal talents have enriched many films including Finding Nemo, Casper, A Bug’s Life and Night at the Museum.

Besides his passion for high performance, luxury watches, he realized another longtime dream in 2010 when he opened Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas.

Now, with a 50.1% stake, it controls the prestigious Girard-Perregaux and JeanRichard brands as well.

Even more importantly, PPR now has its own manufacturer of high-end watch movements. François-Henri Pinault, the Chief Executive of PPR, has indicated that he sees enormous potential in prestigious brands like Girard-Perregaux, since they will give PPR an even stronger presence in the luxury watch market.

In a similar move, PPR rival LVMH, the parent company of Louis Vuitton and Hublot, recently took control of luxury watch manufacturer La Fabrique du Temps. Even independent watchmakers like Patek Philippe and Rolex have stepped up their investments in watch production and parts suppliers in recent years.

Samuel Friedmann, Owner and President of Gevril WatchesSamuel Friedmann, owner of The Gevril Group, speculates that this move towards consolidation in the luxury watch segment is fueled by the Swatch Group’s repeated threats to stop supplying parts and movements to rivals. It has become increasingly important for all luxury brands to have their own manufacturing capability. Friedmann’s own high-end Gevril watch brand has always had the capability to manufacture it’s own movements and this was an important consideration when he initially bought the company in 2000.

Eterna Watches. Nothing by Watchmaking. Since 1856.The Gevril Group’s own Eterna brand was also recently acquired by International Volant Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of China Haidian Holdings. Again, the new parent company gets access to 150 years of Swiss watchmaking expertise, while Eterna gets access to new and better manufacturing methods, along with an opportunity to market their products to a much wider audience.

Luxury watch manufacturers have been enjoying a strong rebound in sales in recent years. Swiss watch exports are up 20% this year, largely fueled by increased demand from the growing Chinese market. This demand for luxury has created a win-win situation companies like PPR and Sowind Group who choose to consolidate. According to Mr. Friedman, Sowind Group brands will get a big boost in international markets form PPR’s worldwide distribution network and PPR will gain the capacity to manufacture 15,000 additional high-end watches annually.

Small boutique brands have never been able to reach a wide audience. By combining marketing power with manufacturing excellence, brand consolidation allows a wider audience than ever before to enjoy the pleasures of owning a luxury watch.

Gevril Swiss WatchesGevril, creator of avant-garde timepieces built on a rich horologic heritage dating back to 1758, will unveil the newest addition to its stellar watch collection at Baselworld 2011.

A finely tuned plan for success, coupled with an extraordinary vision for the seamless evolution within both the aesthetic and mechanical realms of fine timepiece-making, have laid the foundation of the world’s most notable watch brands. In evolving its collection over the years, Gevril has remained loyal to its aristocratic lineage by investing the time, energy and resources necessary to ensure a rare synergy between past, present and future Gevril watches.

New Gevril Times Square Watch

Continuing in its tradition of designing timepieces which exude the personality, essence and namesakes of New York City landmark locations, Gevril aptly named its new pièce de résistance Times Square.

Not one to rush a new model to market before perfection is achieved, Gevril’s Samuel Friedmann explains: “Our new Times Square has been in the planning stages for quite some time. Although I’m very fond of all of my collections, the Times Square stands as a testament to how far Gevril has come as a brand, as well as to our ability to create time tracking wonders with technical innovations that rival the finest houses of horology anywhere.”

As with Gevril’s famed Avenue of Americas Collection, the Times Square is a “statement piece” featuring a well-designed 42mm square case. Due to its size, this is certainly not a watch that will go unnoticed; however its refined character will also appeal to those searching for a somewhat more understated look. The Times Square will be available in Classic, Sport and Luxury versions and will offer the collector a choice of complications: A triple-hand automatic powered by the very popular ETA 2892A2 movement featuring 28,800 vibrations per hour and 21 jewels, as well as Big Date versions in both Classic or Sport editions powered by the new ETA 2896 movement featuring 28,800 vibrations per hour and 22 jewels.

Gevril Form Every Bit as Good as Function

Gevril has incorporated the curved case architecture of the Avenue of Americas into the Times Square creating a wonderful custom feel on the wrist; this is where Gevril excels in making form every bit as good as function. A massive curved and beveled grade “A” sapphire crystal serves as the looking glass through which all will marvel at the watch’s charismatic dial. The fit and finish are impeccable from every viewing angle and are exemplified by the Times Square‘s seamless and fluid design. The curved exhibition caseback features a laser engraved “G” logo, and the timepiece is water resistant to 5 ATM.

The Times Square Sport edition features a minimalist black and gray dial accented with contrasting markers and Arabic numerals. A curved black titanium case is married to either a matching titanium bracelet or to a contoured high quality silicone strap. In this version Gevril has expanded the Big Date window to allow for date pre- and post- views of up to 3 days.

The Times Square Luxury version is all about refinement. While possessing the same mechanics as its Sport counterpart, it breaks rank and captures the elegance of its paternal Avenue of Americas, featuring a classically decorated and textured dial, as well as exaggerated Arabic numerals.

The Gevril Times Square Collection will be available in either 316 Stainless Steel or 18K Rose Gold except for the Sport edition that will be available exclusively in Titanium. Prices will start at $3,495 and reach $24,990, depending on case metals and band. Each edition will be limited to just 250 pieces.
