To celebrate their 100th Anniversary and 20 years of going where no watch has gone before, Fortis invited artists and watch enthusiasts from around the world to participate in the world’s first Zero-G Space Art Contest. Contestants were encouraged to submit original drawings, photos, paintings and videos that expressed the artist’s thoughts and feelings about space and space travel for a chance at an out-of-this-world prize.
After a seven-month search for the best entry, Fortis announced a winner on June 25, 2013. As a result of his winning entry, a video called “Zero-G Seniors,” Hannes Bodensorf, a native from Zerbst, Germany, will now have the opportunity of a lifetime to experience the feeling of weightlessness on board a special weightless parabolic aircraft flight that simulates the sensations of orbital flight.
Hannes will join scientists from the German Sport University of Cologne in the South of France this September on board a specially equipped Zero-G aircraft to explore the unique and unforgettable sensations of weightlessness. To help pass the time until his historic flight, Hannes was presented by Fortis with the world’s most celebrated space watch: the Fortis Official Cosmonaut’s Chronograph. This is the same watch worn by astronauts on the International Space Station and has proved itself under weightless conditions many times already.

Be sure to watch Hannes Bodensorf’s humorous winning video. You may not be able to experience the sensation of weightlessness like this talented young filmmaker, but you can certainly experience what’s it’s like to wear his famous watch. All you have to do is go to an authorized Fortis dealer and ask to see the Fortis Official Cosmonaut’s Chronograph.
