A Family Tradition that Created a Worldwide Reputation for Quality
Catorex Cattin Watchmakers has been a family affair for five generations. Georges Cattin, who was born in Switzerland in 1785, passed his watchmaking skills, along with the company he began in 1858, to his only son Constant Cattin. (thefoundationspecialists.com) Constant had nine children, and his youngest son Numa continued the family business of making high quality watches. Two more generations of Cattin boys continued to make fine watches, before Guy Cattin, who still runs the company today, registered the Catorex brand for the family business.
The company, located in Les Breuleux, in the heart of the Swiss Jura region, has maintained a reputation for quality for generations, but was never widely recognized. For many years Catorex Cattin was primarily known for making high quality, short run private label watches for other companies. In the 1980’s, the brand became popular in Asia, but it is only recently that the Catorex name has begun to attract the attention of watch aficionados around the world
What is bringing the brand a higher profile today is Guy Cattin’s commitment to creating a new generation of mechanical watches that have been adapted to the personality, taste and needs of today’s sophisticated consumer.

The Catorex New London Unisex Collection of wristwatches and pocket watches provides an excellent example of why the brand is attracting attention from discriminating customers. This elegant and strikingly original 42mm timepiece features a square shaped case crafted of 316L stainless steel case enclosing two beautiful skeletonized mechanical movements. The Unitas 6565 movements, which were initially created in the 1960s, are beautifully engraved and circular-grained on top, while the back is embellished with Côtes de Genève patterns. Each dial can be wound and set independently with its own winding crown. Seven different variations of this elegant watch are available, including one with a bezel encrusted with 80 VVS1 diamonds.
Catorex has also brought back the pocket watch with a variety of new designs that have been adapted for the modern world. Pocket watches have been a specialty of the family business since its foundation in 1858, and the company takes pride in offering some of the finest pocket and pendant watches available today. Catorex currently offers six different pocket watch collections with 45 models from the traditional to the avant-garde.
Rounding out the Catorex lineup is the new 1858 Collection, named after the year the company was founded. 39 different models pay homage to the company’s watchmaking heritage and provide customers with an opportunity to enjoy the quality Catorex is famous for at a wide variety of price points.
